Goal Line Defense
Feb 08, 2024In a goal-line defense, the linebackers will line up closer to the line of scrimmage in order to be more effective in stopping short-yardage plays.
The defense may also sub in defensive linemen or linebacker in place of a defensive back to get more “big bodies” on the field to stop any short-yardage attempts.
This defense will come into play when the offense is in short-yardage situations such as 4th and 1 or the offense is within five yards of scoring the ball.
