Cover 2 Defense (Man)
Feb 07, 2024Man coverage is called based on how man deep defenders are on the field.
In this coverage, there are TWO DEEP DEFENDERS. Thus, this is a Cover Two man-to-man coverage.
The two deep defenders are going to be in deep halves. This is the same responsibility they have in the Cover 2 zone sections. They are going to split the field in half. One defender is going to defend deep half of the field while the other defender does the same to the other side of the field.
The remaining DBs and LBs are going to match up with a receiver on the offense and follow them around for the whole play. They are trying to deny the receiver from catching the football.
The rest of the defenders are blitzing the quarterback.
